This key is not available from the public keyserver network, so i can't see what its actual self-signatures look like. Is it possible that its only self-sigs were made by an algorithm unsupported by gpg 1.2? i'm not sure which algorithms were introduced between 1.2 and 1.4, but that would be useful information for this question. --dkg
