Well as long as we maintain these versions we will provide the fixes in a way that it does not affec the license. In most cases this is a fair-use case. For old versions you are of our own but the GPL allows you to change the code as you like. Note that - in contrast to small bug fixes - backporting large parts of a 1.4.8 etc to 1.4.7 will also copy the GPLv3 and thus effectivly putting the 1.4.7 under the GPLv3.
