I do not want a scatter plot. The graph is for temperature against time. It's logical to assume that between measured intervals, a temperature will exist. Therefore a line connecting adjacent points will indicate areasonable progression from point to point. As I explained, my earlier data, including the plots was lost on the occasion of the disk crash. I therefore do not have the files. I have worked out that I do not need a combination of the firt two columns (date and time), but only the date. The data, since it is sequential will be sequentially placed on the plot . What I do need to know is how I select the data which will form the absissa (x axis), and the ordinate (y axis). In my case the absissa should carry the date (and time), and the ordinate the temperature. I had assumed that these values (in my case columns A and C in the spreadsheet) would be selected before inserting the graph into the spreadsheet. But I cannot see where or how to do so. It does not help that I am using Gnumeric vers.1.2.9, whereas the help function calls up the Graph Guru, which as far as I can see does not exist in this version
