the manual has not been written yet.
Manually recalculating using F9 recalculates the entire workbook. How
can I manually recalculate a single sheet?

Go the the "File" menu, and click on the "Document properties...". Then
you can disable automatic re-calculation.
It may differs a little bit on your numeric, as mine uses french menus.
