I'm running out of memory (or more precisely, address space) trying to
open very large files in Gnumeric on Windows 7 x64. My system has 4GB
of physical RAM, but (probably) due to 32-bit address space limitations
Gnumeric can only get up to 1 GB and change of memory usage before it
crashes with an "allocation failed" error message. (Openoffice.org
can't handle this file either, and Excel 2007 can barely handle it.)
Given that one of Gnumeric's niches is its relatively good handling of
huge spreadsheets, and address space limitations break this, would
whoever does the Win32 builds also be willing to create a native Win64
build that doesn't have 32-bit address space limitations? If not, has
anyone know if Gnumeric works when large address space aware mode is
enabled?
