In principle we support sheets that large. In practice, you might experience slowdowns. You might want to create fake data sets to test things out.
Note: the very latest Gnumeric, 1.9.13, will behave much better memory-wise than previoius versions. If things don't work out, you can try R. http://www.r-project.org/ They can certainly handle large data sets, but the interface is not that of a spreadsheet, but more like a scripting language.
