I'm going to add to my previous message, hoping for some help after a
decade as a Gnucash user.

On further review, the application software seems to be behaving properly,
and that the problem I need to address is that there are four data files
starting in 2025. No doubt this was my fault. (I think one file was a
reclaimed backup). I believe that merging the four files may put me back on
course, though I'm worried about how much editing may be needed.

Thanks for any guidance you may be able to steer me in the right direction,
and would especially be eager to hear from a Gnucash user who has
successfully recovered from a similar situation. In summary (1) is merging
the files likely to put me on the right track, and (2) what is the simplest
procedure to merge the files.

Thanks much and regards,
