Thank you for your reply.
1-I open GNU by clicking on the app icon on my desktop.

2-It opens with only the 'accounts' tab open.

3-Data is stored locally.

4- The title bar shows
'GK.gnucashXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.gnucash.XXXXXXXXXXXXXX.gnucash.XXXXXXXXXXXXXX,gnuc
ash.XXXXXXXXXXXX.gnucash - Accounts - GnCash' where X is replaced with
numerals.

5-After installing W11, a fresh install of GNUc, and a restore of old GNUc
data to 'gnucash.dat' directory, with GNUc closed, I opened Windows
Explorer, navigated to my GNUc data directory and doubled clicked on a
recent '.gnucash' file.

Again, thankyou for your help.

It is supposed to reopen any tab you leave open, not just account registers.

Please clarify a few things:

*Is this being stored on a remote or cloud service?

There could be an issue with reading the file that tells GnuCash what to
restore.

*Is your proper book file open with only the Accounts tab, or do you have to
also go to File > Open each time?

*How are you starting it each time: by double-clicking the book file? by
double-clicking the app icon?

*In the title bar after the file is open, are there numbers in between your
book file name and the .gnucash extension?

Regards,
Adrien
