If you just want to get your accounting done, uninstall the flatpak
version using a Terminal:
flatpak remove org.gnucash.GnuCash
(if flatpak tells you that you can now remove other stuff that was only
needed for GnuCash, you can remove those too)
and then install the version in the Mint repository:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install gnucash
That will get you version 5.5 which is certainly fine. Any problems
specifically related to flatpak won't be an issue now.
On first run, you might need to do the File > Open dance if it doesn't
open your last file right off. (the switch from flatpak to .deb might
cause this, not a big deal)
However, since you are using Linux and have Nvidia graphics, you'll
likely still have the issue with blank reports. (they shouldn't crash
the computer entirely though)
To avoid that, try entering in a Terminal window:
gnucash -env=WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1
GnuCash should appear to launch normally so try to run a report. It
*should* work and not crash. Let us know if it does, and copy/paste in
your reply any output from the terminal window after your 'gnucash'
command above. (you may see output in the terminal window possibly
including some warnings or even errors)
If all went well and the report displayed, (disregarding the terminal
messages) you can add that environment variable so you can just launch
GnuCash normally by clicking its icon.
To do so, enter this in a terminal window:
export WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1
Then try to launch GnuCash using its icon and let us know how it goes.

Adrien
If you really, really want the latest flatpak version we can probably
help, but this will need to be approached one issue at a time. And
please, don't ask any AI anything unless you like pointless rabbit
holes. And certainly don't blindly enter terminal commands given by one.
Folks here can do better, faster, and safer.

Wonder whether I should try to uninstall and reinstall another version of
gnucash? Should I try to buy a different video card?
