If it is every transaction then you can:
1.  Create a new parent
2.  Link the sub-accounts to the new parent
3.  Delete the old account and specify that the transaction be move to the appropriate sub-account.

If not all the transactions, then you have to go into each transaction and find the split that needs to have the sub-account. Since that line is most likely pointing to the "parent", just update it by adding the sub-account at the end of existing account entry. Hit the enter key and it is updated.  You will have to do this for each transaction that needs that split line to point to the sub-account.
