I have messed with these instructions (see below) a few times since 2/15
trying to get an actual report with no luck. Now I will take you
step-by-step through those instructions and hope we find what I am not
understanding.
I have opened a list of my accounts in one tab and I have opened my
share draft/checking account in another tab next to it. No other tabs
open. The goal is to print a list of transactions from my share draft
account from Mar 1 thru today (Mar 9). I understand this page can also
be called a transaction register.
Your next instruction says Selected View-Filter By. I take this to mean
Select View-Filter By so I do that. The share draft register is open
and has the focus of GC. I select my date range. Leaving this little
range selection open, I Select Reports - Account Report and it does open
a tab called Register but it is blank. So I went back and started over,
called up Filter By. It stil showed the set up, so I clicked OK at the
bottom. Blank screen.
I hope this helps you help me in some way. Your instructions seem
logical and clear to me. Over the years I have found it is not uncommon
at all for the instructions to say "go here, do this and you will see
that" and you see something else.
As a reminder I am running Linux Mint 22.3 and GC 5.14.
I now have a tool bar. It was not checked in the view menu.

Jerry,
The attached is the screenshot of the toolbar which appears after you
have:
Opened the register for the required account;
Selected View->Filter By from the Menu with the account register open
and set the desired selection options (show all and/or a desired date
range);
Selected Reports->Account Report (second last item in the list) from
the menu with the register for the desired account selected
immediately prior;
This should open a report in a tab labelled Register in a new tab
which has the transactions which were selected for view in the
account register
If you are not seeing anything in the report but transactions do
appear in the account register then that is very weird as the Account
Report does not
have the options normally set by Edit->Report Options for selecting
the date range that most of the other reports in the menu have
If that toolbar does not appear the first item in the View submenu
View->Toolbar needs to be checked i.e. a tick in the selection box to
the right of the submenu entry.
