I could change it to a "Credit Card" account-type, though of course that's not what it is. Is there anything more suitable?
Well, within my lifetime, what we now call credit cards we charge cards which were expected to be paid off each month. In other words, not intended to be borrowed money as much as a "30 day net account" in business. << Most weren't general purpose; the VENDORS provided them, not banks. The idea was wife went shopping at the department store and hubby settled up each month. The closets to a modern credit card was "Diner's Club" in the sense that general -- but expected to settle up each month. Used because statements could be easily submitted for reimbursement >>
Ans SOME of us use our credit cards that way, always pay in full, never pay ant interest.
In any case, an account TYPE "credit card" has no special accounting meaning. It is simply an account of type liability where gnucash is allowing you to specify paying account, etc.
LOL -- we have what you describe over here (EZ Pass toll collection) except ours is like a debit card (you need to place funds with them in advance, but can link to a bank for auto replenishment. So for me an asset account that resembles a bank.
