The question as asked is not making a lot of sense to me.

Gnucash does reports a little differently than one might expect. One first runs the report (with default options) and then while that tab is open, use edit=>report options to select the options you want for THIS running of the report. They will persist as long as that tab open (even if you close gnucash. I run few DIFFERENT types of reports so just do that, leave report tab open. Others here can tell you how to save reports.

NOW --- this is where you lose me, "left side window". Don't have a clue what you are talking about. When I use "report options" I see one or more sub windows with various labels (how many depends on the report). To set DATES for the report, you want the one that says "general".
