Honestly. 

The question you *should* be asking is "What information exactly are you 
looking for in your reports?" rather than the OS and GC version. 

Gnucash has *always* (well, at least since I started using it in 2006) had 
issues with its reporting modules. The mechanisms are not easy to grok, and 
getting good results can be challenging. But there are a lot of different 
options, and usually you can find ways to accomplish most of what you need. 

Chris, you should spend some time checking out the various reports to see 
whether you can modify the settings to get what you want. Once you have a 
report that looks like what you want, save it as a Saved Report Configuration, 
which will allow you to recover your earlier settings. 

Personally, I have found that the Pie Chart and Bar Chart Reports can be quite 
useful for reporting on a group of Accounts over a period of time. They also 
include an option to include a table, which will show the balances for the 
slices.
