Is it something that should be corrected? Yes, you need to correct your association, because you associate it incorrectly. A Debit is when value goes into an account, and a Credit is when value leaves an account. When you deposit cash into your bank, that is a Debit to your Asset account! You probably get it wrong because you're using the BANK'S side notation. To them, your account is a Liability, not an Asset -- so when you deposit cash with them it Credits the Liability (therefore increasing the amount they owe to you). I recommend you read the GnuCash documentation which goes into great detail about this.
