I am using windows 11 GNUCash 5.8. Autocomplete is only for the description.
1. If you tab while a description is highlighted it will use that description and fill in the amounts of the last time you used that description. 2. If you arrow up to "Don't autocomplete" and either tab or enter it will use the information you typed in description. If you have a previous transaction where the description is the same as your current description it will still fill in the rest of the transaction based on the last transaction that used that description. 3. If you hit enter while "Don't autocomplete" is highlighted it goes back to the description and if you hit enter again it completes that entry with no information and goes to a blank transaction, unless you have changed your preferences/register/ and unchecked the box 'Enter' moves to a blank transaction. That is the first box. So the short answer is, yes that is how it is supposed to work. It will only do what you want (I was hoping that pressing Tab after Don't autocomplete would take the cursor to the transfer account field and it would be blank.), if you have never used the description currently in the description column. In Description, I type "cash" and get a popup of possible completions. I arrow key up to: Don't autocomplete I press Tab and it uses one of the existing transactions (not what I want) and fills in the transfer to account and dollar amount. I delete that transaction and try again. This time after arrowing to Don't autocomplete I press Enter. The popup goes away and the cursor is after "cash". Then, when I press Tab, the transfer to account and dollar amount are filled in (again, not what I want). Delete and try again. This time after arrowing to Don't autocomplete I press Enter. The popup goes away and the cursor is after "cash". Now when I press Enter, nothing is entered for account or amount, and the transaction is entered. Is this the expected behaviour? I was hoping that pressing Tab after Don't autocomplete would take the cursor to the transfer account field and it would be blank. _______________________________________________ gnucash-user mailing list gnucash-user@gnucash.org To update your subscription preferences or to unsubscribe: https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user<https://lists.gnucash.org/mailman/listinfo/gnucash-user> ----- Please remember to CC this list on all your replies.
