Looking at my 2 biggest data files with data from about 1990 for one
and 1995 for the other
2.2 MiB (2351153 bytes)
1.5 MiB (1537242 bytes)

and I don't notice any delays on using these files.
This laptop is multiprocessor (20 cores)

vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 186
model name : 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900H
stepping : 2
microcode : 0x4121
cpu MHz : 400.000
cache size : 24576 KB

but I don't notice any performance concerns with my old desktop.
