While I am happy to answer emails, please ask your questions on the gnucash-user mailing list. I don't understand why you feel it is "sooo hard" -- when you ask there you get the benefit of hundreds of people to potentially answer your question. Also, when you keep it on the list, you can benefit others who may have the same problem you have. Moreover, keeping it on the list will be more likely to get you an answer from someone who actually knows how to solve the problem. When you send an email off-list, the recipient may not have any idea how to answer you, or may not even be around to answer in a timely fashion. So please keep questions (and responses) on the list. > When i hit "file" and look down and see that I had created 4 companies, > when i was really just trying to edit the name of an existing company. > So every time I tried going into "New set up for hierchy" it created a > new account. The best way to remove a file from your recents list is to actually remove the file from your folder. Drag it to trash, or otherwise dispose of it. If you do that, GnuCash will ask if you want to remove it from the Recent History. Or you can just ignore them. Gnucash will automatically open the most recently used file. So if you have "test 1", "test 2", "test 3" and "my data file", if you File -> Open "my data file" and then exit GnuCash, the next time you open GnuCash it will open "my data file".
