It does not support barter that ALSO involves any currency (where barter units are convertible or transactions mixed between barter units and a currency)

It COULD support the accounting for a system that just used some barter unit, using any of the official currencies in place of the barter unit. Say use US dollars in place of "Ithaca Dollars". You would just need to understand that THAT set of books wasn't representing dollars but Ithaca dollars.
