Thanks for this... I haven't seen any notice about file changes between major versions (probably because - as you say - it is silently checked).
Yes, the Ubuntu version is from the repository. I'll have to look up installing flatpak to get the 5.x version of GnuCash - I'm not going to do the export/import work. I'd rather just not run it at all on Ubuntu... I had been running a flatpak version earlier (that was on the previous LTS version, where the repository version was [I think] at 3.x).
