It's okay, I'm not an expert with Perl, but have done a lot of programming. I used one of the methods proposed to extract the data I need and use it. It's not elegant code, but as with all such investigations that eventually get solved, it's so satisfying to have done it. And I learned a bit more of the language in the process.
