Rhonda, Just an additional note to David H's comment. I have had trouble building GnuCash 5.0 on Linux Mint/Ubuntu as there is a file not included in the bzip version although I can build from a clone of the Github repository as it generates the file as was reported in earlier posts.
Compiled versions of GnuCash are available for Windows, MacOSX. Most Linux distributions will have a version in their software repositories but it may not be the latest version. There are instructions on the Wiki to build GnuCash from the source files on Linux distributions (https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Building_On_Linux, https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Building_On_Ubuntu ) if this is really what you want to do.
