I noticed Yahoo stopped carrying the price of gold as XAUUSD=X, so I guess any
symbol on any service can disappear, it is just odd for it to disappear for
currency or gold or metal. Of course, they have to get it from someone else,
so they have little control. You might be able to find a new symbol with the
same meaning. Otherwise, you can find a place that displays the rate and
manually put in a price, say at the end of each week or month. Writing an
automated perl price updated for a new site is probably beyond most of us.
