I'm surprised that people don't buy ($$$) a book (see below) that gives them a good introduction to accounting, or even find a good tutorial online (no $$$), & instead go to a mailing list intended for the support of free (no $$$) SOFTWARE (not accounting), & then expect other people to teach them (on their time) the most RUDIMENTARY concept in all of accounting.

I taught myself accounting, & when there was something I didn't understand, I did the necessary research to LEARN.  Learning concepts in any field takes time & effort.

I normally ignore these types of issues on this list, but this discussion takes the cake.
