Jim, 1. Hear hear!
2. I agree completely. In the past I have actually done precisely what you describe. 3. I think this is the underlying issue I have with this entry in the FAQ. It's great to have people writing more documentation. There is a lot to be explained, and it's wonderful when people take the time to explain it. Thank you! 2. I am lukewarm on the topic, but I would not delete it because of that. However, I think it a bit long to be an FAQ answer. It is one of the longer answers in the FAQ. It would be better off on a separate wiki page, linked to from a 1-2 sentence answer in the FAQ. The page could be named "Rental Property Accounting" or something like that. 3. Is it really a "frequently asked" question? Does it need to be linked from the FAQ page? I think the FAQ page is long and unwieldy. Partly that is because I think we have let the FAQ page be the only entryway we can imagine into the wiki. Thus every topic has to be framed as a frequent question and linked from the FAQ page. A number of FAQ answers would be better off as separate wiki pages. A number of topics could be cut from the present FAQ page and put onto other topic pages. I don't feel moved to make any changes based on these opinions, but maybe this helps encourage someone else.
