I run syncthing on my laptop and desktop machines. It synchronises
(among other things) my GnuCash files. I can thus work on either
machine and not worry about using an external drive or copying files
back and forth. It's totally transparent for me (as a user).

Obviously this only works because I'm the only user and I don't try
and run Gnucash on two machines at the same time, I always exit from
GnuCash after using it.
