Hope it works out for you. I noticed there are sporadic questions about this kind of thing and thought it might be nice to have a place where all the stuff that worked for someone (me, in this case) is spelled out in a straightforward fashion, rather than spread over a whole heap of messages. So glad the GTK-3 stuff I figured out for 3.11 is still okay for 4.8. Also, the speed of loading on the M1 is really remarkable. What used to take a bit of time is almost a blink and you miss it.
