I tried what you suggested but I wasn't able to select individual accounts. I could only select all accounts or just one. I finally found what I was looking for on the other chart. I can get the totals by selecting Options, Display tab, check Show table, then Ok. That will add a table at the bottom with the totals.

Thanks.

Hi Jack

I am on version 4.4 and find that the "Reports / Experimental / Income Statement (Multicolumn)" report is very useful for time based totals.

By default it looks like a simple Income / Expense report but in two columns.  Go into the Options and pick one of the Period Durations: Year / Half-year / Quarter / Month / Fortnight / Week.  This will give you the total for all (or selected) Expenses for each of the Periods in the Date Range you specify.

Hope this helps.

Geoff

Is there anyway of getting the totals of each bar in the Expense Cart in GNUCash?

Each bar is broken up into different accounts by color and you can get the numbers for each account with a mouse hover but the sum of all the accounts is missing. You can get an estimate of the total by looking at the scale on the left but I need the exact number. I can get that number by manually adding all the account amounts but that's shouldn't be necessary.

Thanks.
