I am away from my computer so I cannot be sure that I am using the correct words.
When adding a new security account under a brokerage account you need to choose the correct account type ie commodity type not bank type in the box on the lower left before the editor will allow you to choose an existing stock or other non currency commodity for the account. There is an example in the help manual.
