The Account view which we sometimes call the chart of accounts is simply a list of all the accounts in the current book or data file. It happens to show the current balance of each account in it's assigned currency or security.
To see additional information such as account balances on different dates it is necessary to use a report that is configured to show that information. I believe there is a report with a name similar to account balances over time that can be configured to show the information that you requested.
