G'day Michael
If you haven't already, I suggest you start with the following sections
of the Gnucash Documentation:
https://www.gnucash.org/viewdoc.phtml?rev=4&lang=C&doc=help
6.16. Importing Transactions from Files
6.16.5. Import CSV
Then have a look at the second last post on this thread where I included
a working CSV file and matching screenshots of the import process:
http://gnucash.1415818.n4.nabble.com/GNC-Tracking-cash-flows-with-balanced-transactions-tc4721056.html
The purpose of the drop down headings is to tell Gnucash what data you
have in each column of your CSV file.
Another useful technique is to *export* some similar transactions to
CSV, examine the structure of the CSV file produced by Gnucash, then try
and import that file.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Geoff

I need to import bank data csv into Gnucash accounts.
So far with some limited success.
I am unsure from the user manual of the required column headings
in the import wizard screen.
If the data to be imported is say:
into account ASSET: BankXYZ
date
description
deposit
withdrawal
and I need to place transactions in various other accounts say:
INCOME:Sales
&
EXPENSES:Purchases
My confusion comes with understanding drop down list headings:
ACTION
TRANSFER ACCOUNT
TRANSFER ACTION etc.
What are the Column Headings for the above scenario?
Thank you
Michael Middleton
