"Having a quick enquiry to make from an account that wasn't the most recently opened, I started GC and (after checking the the Save button was greyed out) I opened a different one via File->Open. I hadn't been able to reproduce the crash until this morning, when I tried saving the first account with several reports open, Quit GnuCash and tried again - my reasoning was that the reports would cause a slight delay on opening the first file but wouldn't generate any new transactions (which would require a Save).”
