We need to hear from the developers or users that have tried the new CSV importer or QIF importer about this.
I know that the referenced bug report applies only to the old CSV importer, not to the new CSV importer, and GnuCash has been able to handle multiple accounts and presumably multiple currencies in OFX imports for years.
