Hi Alan, I have a similar setup, though I only use Avast for anti-virus protection. Instead I use the Comodo free firewall and have the Windows 10 firewall disabled. At times Windows security shows a message that neither firewall is active though Task Manager shows that Comodo is running, but I have never had the Windows firewall start automatically regardless. The message gives the option to start either firewall and I specify Comodo though it is already active. and The Windows firewall remains inactive. I agree that there is a possible Windows bug here that they are not interested in fixing. This video may be useful for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sNVSiiEFIY Cheers
