Regarding reconciling. It is almost the only thing I use Gnucash for. I have 14 or 15 accounts in one Gnucash file and 5 or 6 in another. Reconciling the accounts forces me to look at the statements. Without it I would probably never notice if any fraudulent transactions were charged to my accounts.
