I am using openSUSE linux 15.1, and gnucash 3.0, which is the standard
version that comes with the opensuse repositories.
I was away from using gnucash for about a month, and this morning when I
went to open up my accounts again, I could not open up my accounts. I
get the error:
"There was an error parsing the file ..." with my filename there at the
end.
I have looked up the trace file, and I get the following:
/tmp> cat gnucash.trace

Xml File /home/george/MyData/RealMission/OlsonTrackmnl.gnucash
So I tried opening up the backup files that were stored in the same
directory, and it is giving the same error.
I copied the gnucash file to another directory, unzipped it using gzip,
and opened it with a text editor as an xml file, but there are tons of
lines of code and I would not know how to begin figuring out where the
error is.
Can anyone help me figure out where the error is? I need to restore
these files, as I have the past 10 years of tax data stored in this
file. My most recent off-site backup is over a year old, so that won't help.
I was running gnucash just fine a month ago, and I haven't updated
gnucash on my system since then as far as I know.
Thanks in advance,
