Stephen, My accountant uses the file I provide him to import my GL transactions directly into his ledger. I have been doing this for 12 years.

He will have his own software to generate his workpapers. He can work without them. He may find it a convenience to have numbers to make sure that any adjusting entries later given to you go to the right place, but that is optional.
