For clarification, "Copy 2" is intended to be used in cases where one tax return has 2 copies of an individual form or schedule. An example is if a married couple files a joint return and both have 'Schedule C' activities to report in separate Schedule C's. One individual has, for example, an income account that points to Copy 1 of Schedule C and the other individual has a separate income account that points to copy 2. Form 8606 also can have more than one copy.
