Yes, I am looking at the account "tree". But why should I not see the totals 
of my investments reflected in the parent directory when I can see my bank 
totals reflected in the parent directory of my savings and checking account? 
Also, can you clarify what a CUR is? Thanks

Where are you looking to see these totals?  I presume in the Chart of
Accounts?  You definitely will NOT see it in the parent account register.

In the CoA, it will show up if you have a Total(CUR) column shown.

Also, you need at least one entry in the PriceDB.
