Thanks John, I deleted Library/Perl/Finance and reinstalled finance::quote using the sudo command. Installed ok, but no change on errors and messages.
The only change I made between finance::Quote running and now failing was replacing my router from an old Apple TimeCapsule to a U-verse PACE 5268AC modem.. Is there a TCP or UDP port, or another router setting that FQ, respectively JSON needs, which may not be set properly by default?
