This is the right question. I don't see a run of make sudo make install
If you don't run these successfully, nothing will appear in /usr/local. Note make install is run via sudo. On a typical linux system ordinary users are not allowed to write into /usr/local unless they have administrator privileges and invoke those. That's what "sudo" does.
