Update! The problem is restricted to a malfunction with the date format in the 2.6.16 version. Specifically, the program will allow the user to proceed with import in the default format YYYY/MM/DD despite the CSV transaction dates being formatted as MM/DD/YYYY. This is what causes the program to crash. In the new stable version 3.3 the importer provides user feedback to correct the date and does not allow the import to proceed until fixed.
