Thanks Maf, I didn't make it clear that I was referring to the XML backend and that database backends would require different strategies. David T's point is also taken and noted. Most of Johnathon's questions dealt with some issues which were out of the scope of GnuCash's capabilities and were more about the capacity to integrate with non accounting tasks.
