I have large and small monitors and the sizing of the columns started to work very well for me after I got enough knowledge to deal with them.
After you scale all columns to your liking, drag in the header the end divider of the Description column farthest to the left and then drop it and it will auto size as much as possible in the window without a horizontal scrollbar. Double-clicking on the column header resizes it to the minimum required and sets this width, dragging its right divider in the header defines a fixed width.
