I am wondering why the log files bother you. Possibly you have done something like saving the accounts file on the desktop, so you see the log files there. If so then that is a bad plan. Instead I suggest making a folder specifically for the accounts file and using File > Save As to save it there. Then you can leave the log file setting at the default and they will be no bother, but will be there in case you need them.
