It's stored in the Invoice Data Structure, which means if you store it in XML, you will see it in the XML. You can also see the InvoiceID on the open invoice window. Whatever value you see in the InvoiceID in the dialog/invoice edit window is what will show up on the report. And that ID is stored. It sounds like the format you're using is either invalid, or you didn't assign it correctly.
