Eric, The only way I can think of is this but make sure you have a backup of your existing work.
1) Make sure you are saving xml files and under Edit->Preferences->General compression is not set. 2) Use File->Export->'Export Accounts' to create a new file with the accounts. 3) Open the new file in Gnucash and create a single dummy customer and save. 4) Open the original file in a text editor and do a search for 'gnc:GncCustomer'. You should find one line with the customer count, copy this line to the new file opened in a text editor. And then you will find a large section of customers, copy the whole section and replace the dummy customer with it. 5) Open the new file in Gnucash and check under Business->Customer->'Customer Overview' that you have all your customers. 6) On the Accounts tab, do a Check and Repair which is under 'Actions' If this is OK, then you could search for 'gnc:GncVendor' This is not really supported but as the file is empty should be OK. Do not be tempted to copy other bits as some parts are linked to others in a complex way.
