When I made the proposal, and subsequently implemented the changes based on input through Bugzilla, I was struck by the overwhelming nature of the laundry list approach to news announcements on the start page. To me, the start page is Gnucash's opportunity to make an impression on *new* users. Such users are unlikely to be interested in knowing all the broken things that have now been fixed; they are primarily looking to find out what Gnucash does, and how to get it and use it. Your comment is the first to note the change, which suggests that it hasn't deterred other users. Frankly, I don't understand your distinction between release notes and "Bugzilla stuff." However, if there's a way to improve the communication of changes to users that balances the different information needs, then I am all for it. What do you propose?
