Is this code by any chance used the create a new xml file ? In other words does input_url refer to a non-existing file ? I have recently pushed a fix [1] to the python bindings that should prevent it from crashing when trying to create a new xml data file. You could try to apply that commit locally and see if it fixes your issue.
