But RHEL6 won't, and there is at present no public schedule for RHEL7, nor for 
what version of Gtk+ it will provide.

Debian stable is on Gtk+-2.20, testing is on 2.24, but won't release until next 
July.

Since 2.6 is unlikely to be ready by July, we needn't worry about Debian, but 
we're still pinned by RHEL.
